Welcome to Yellow Class!
Yellow Class is a welcoming and supportive environment where children are encouraged to develop confidence, independence and curiosity in their learning.
The adults working with Yellow Class are: Mrs Watson, the class teacher, and Mrs Smith, our Teaching Assistant. Together, we work closely to create a calm, inclusive, and engaging classroom where every child feels valued and supported.
In our classroom, we place a strong focus on building resilience, self-belief, and a love of learning. Lessons are carefully planned to be engaging and ambitious, with opportunities for discussion, creativity, and independent thinking.
English

In English this term, we are studying the book Journey, by Aaron Becker. The children will continue to develop their reading and writing skills by exploring powerful vocabulary and sentence structures to create meaning. They will focus on identifying verbs, nouns, adjectives, expanded noun phrases, prepositional phrases and fronted adverbials, leading to writing vivid and descriptive pieces inspired by the text.
Our class reading book this term is Roman Boy by Tony Bradman, an exciting historical story set during Roman Britain. This text supports the development of reading comprehension skills while deepening pupils’ understanding of Roman life and history.
Maths
In Maths this half term, our focus is multiplication, division and fractions. The children will develop their understanding through practical activities, problem solving, and reasoning, helping them to build confidence and fluency with key number facts.
History
In History this term, we are learning about the Romans and their impact on Britain. The children will explore how the Roman Empire expanded, why the Romans invaded Britain, and how life changed under Roman rule. They will learn about key historical figures such as Queen Boudicca, investigate Roman remains and artefacts, and understand the importance of Hadrian’s Wall and the lasting legacy of the Romans.
PSHCE
In PSHCE this term, we are focusing on Dreams and Goals. The children will learn about setting personal goals, recognising their strengths, and developing a positive attitude towards challenges. They will explore perseverance, teamwork, and resilience, helping to build confidence and self-belief.
PE
PE takes place on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Please ensure your child comes to school in the correct PE kit on these days.
Home Learning
Please encourage your children to practise times tables for quick recall and to regularly revise their Year 3 and Year 4 spelling words at home. Your support makes a huge difference to your child’s confidence and progress.
During the winter months, we kindly ask that you include a spare pair of socks or tights in your child’s bag, as children often return from lunchtime with wet socks. This helps them stay warm, comfortable, and ready for learning throughout the afternoon.
We are looking forward to a wonderful term in Yellow Class, full of learning, curiosity, and achievement.
