Pupil Premium / Free School Meals

At the start of the academic year 2025-2026, there are 29.4% of children eligible for Pupil Premium Funding (with 27.1% of pupils currently receiving free-school meals). It is our aim that children who are eligible for Pupil Premium Funding attain in line with children who do not receive Pupil Premium funding and, through our Pupil Premium Strategy below, we support these pupils in achieving this.  The strategies detailed in our Pupil Premium Strategy plan are based upon EEF research and reflect the requirements in the pupil premium conditions of the grant document. Please see the attached document at the bottom of the page.

Applying for Free School Meals:

Pupils in receipt of pupil premium funding will receive free school meals (beyond the universal free school meals received up to the end of Year 2). Children in receipt of pupil premium funding also receive additional intervention in order to ensure they make the very best possible progress. There are also occasional financial benefits (reduced trips/visits, etc).

Free school meals are available to pupils in receipt of, or whose parents are in receipt of, one or more of the qualifying benefits:

  • Universal Credit (provided you have an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400, as assessed by earning from up to three of your most recent assessment periods)
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA)
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guarantee element of Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (with no Working Tax Credit) with an annual gross income of no more than £16,190
  • Working Tax Credit run-on (paid for the four weeks after the person stops qualifying for Working Tax Credit)
