🌿 Welcome to Year 2!

A very warm welcome to Year 2 at Christ Church C of E Primary School!

We are Miss Evans and Mrs Wells, and we are delighted to be sharing your child's Year 2 journey with them this year. Miss Evans is the class teacher, with Mrs Wells teaching the class on Wednesday afternoons whilst Miss Evans has her planning time.

Year 2 is such an exciting year. Our aim is to create a classroom where every child feels happy, safe, valued and ready to learn. We want our children to be curious, ask questions, have a go, learn from mistakes and feel proud of everything they achieve.

Throughout the year, we will enjoy lots of exciting learning experiences together. From investigating The Great Fire of London and the history of our emergency services in Autumn 1, to exploring living things and their habitats, discovering the wider world and developing as confident readers, writers and mathematicians, there will always be something new to discover!

🌿 Year 2 Key Reminders

A few little reminders to help our days in Year 2 run smoothly:

🏃 PE Days – Thursday & Friday
Children should come to school wearing their PE kit. Please ensure long hair is tied back and earrings are removed.

📚 Reading – 5 times each week
Please aim to read with your child at least five times each week and record each read in their reading diary.

🎒 Every Day
Please make sure children bring their reading book and reading diary to school every day, even if it isn't their reading day.

✏️ Spellings – 2 times each week
Practising little and often will help children become increasingly confident and independent spellers.

🤖 Numbots – 3 times each week
Regular Numbots practice will help build fluency and confidence with key number facts.

💧 Water Bottles
Please send your child to school each day with a clearly named water bottle.

🌳 OPAL Play
Please remember named wellies, waterproofs, a change of clothes and a named bag for wet or muddy clothing. We love embracing outdoor play whatever the weather!
